Icing on the Cake

The expression "The Icing on the Cake" is used to refer to something good that happens on top of an already good thing.  I have visited my two youngest daughters homes over the last couple of days and they had put up their Christmas villages.  I was not going to start any of the Christmas decorating until the weekend after Thanksgiving, but after seeing theirs all lit up and looking so pretty I decided to carry all mine up and find a place to put them.  Hubs put flat tops on our cupboards this past summer and replaced the badly installed plastic trim with some he made himself so I cleaned everything off one set and got my village arranged.
And you ask, what would the icing on top be?  The icing on top would have been to find the box with the snow and the rest of the cords with the lights that tuck into each house.  After going up and down the basement steps about twelve times I still only have two lights.  Maybe tomorrow I'll dig a little deeper but for now it will be a very dark little village.  Linking up with the letter I for Alphabe-Thursday.

I love my Original Snow Village. It's a chore to put up though. I think I'll pop back by and she if you post pics of your village lit up at a later date. ~Ames

Love it!!!! That barn with the silo's?? Wonderful!!!! Sadly, I have lost all the flat surfaces that I once used to house my village and haven't put it up for a few years. Someday...

I so want to decorate, but am hosting Thanksgiving here and feel I shouldn't. What do you think???? I just can't wait for sparkly lights!!! My neighbor down the street has the outside all done up...so jealous!!!!

Can't wait to see everyone's decor!!!

I gave my village to my best friend about a dozen years ago, but I'm still charmed when I see the villages belonging to others!

Cute village. Don't you just want to live in one of them? I wonder why we don't have "villages" in the U.S.

Sweet villages - anything in miniature like your houses are always so special.
Love the Erma Bombeck quote at the top of your blog!

I've never seen a village set up on top of the cupboards! If I didn't have a cat that likes to perch on ours like a gargoyle, I'd be all over this. Lovely display!

How perfect this looks!

I love the whimsy and imagination I feel whenever I look at those perfect little worlds!

The icing will only 'gild the lilly' because it is already gorgeous as it is!

What a fun stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "I".

Although now, I must admit, I am craving a cupcake!

Thank you for linking.

I love the Christmas village. I have a much smaller version with 6 houses/shops. I bought some "snow" this year and it has made my people a little unsteady but it looks much better. I will post a photo later. Don't you love Christmas decorations?
