A Lot of Cute Little Chicks

First I want to show you a really special little chick.
This is granddaughter number one.  She graduated from preschool this week.  She asked me to come so I took the day off and drove to the city so I could see her smiling face.  The following pictures are my granddaughter with some of her school friends.  The first picture is blurry but I am posting it anyway because it is her very best friend in school.  This little girl has been in granddaughter's class for two years and when it was time to leave she cried because my granddaughter will be going to a different school for kindergarten next year.  I was pretty close to tears myself.
Here is the same little chick with a feathered friend.  She was upset when I posted all the other grandchildren holding chicks a couple of weeks ago.  At the time she did not want to hold one, but she was willing to later so she could be on grandma's blog.  Too cute.
The feathered chicks are 3 and 4 weeks old in the next pictures.
This was the first day in their deluxe home that hubs built.
These gold chicks blend right into the wood shaving I put down.  They all like to scratch and throw the shavings all over each other.
This is a Golden Laced Wyandotte.  This one loves to be up higher than the other chicks and gets a little pushy sometimes.
Right before I go to work in the morning I go out to feed and water the girls and let them out to their run.  When I open the little door they come running out.  They love being outside in the sun.
Whenever I take time to squat down to talk to them this little Barred Rock jumps up on my knee to visit and get petted.  I am trying to decide on a name for her.  Leaning towards Freckles but am not quite sure yet.
While my little friend that usually sits on my knee was visiting with me the other day this little chick hopped up on my shoulder.  I was not expecting it and it startled me a little.  I tried to take a picture and this was the best I could manage.   I am really having a great time raising these feathered ladies.  I am suppose to give my middle daughter two of them when they get a little older to add to her three chickens she already has.  I am afraid if we do not do this soon I will not want to give up any of them.  I expect you all have a lot of plans for this holiday weekend, I know we do.  Mostly work related such as gardening and outside painting that needs done.  I am hoping to go to a flea market on Memorial Day though for some fun.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Alphabe-Thursday

S is for Sedum
Sedum is also called Stonecrop and it is a succulent plant.  They tolerate drought and the sandy soil we have anywhere that we have not added an abundance of compost.  Every time I see a different type I grab it and add it to the areas I have been planting it in.  I started the following garden area last summer which I posted about here:
New Rock Garden  Keep in mind in that previous post the first picture was my inspiration picture out of a magazine.  This is what it looks like now.

I am hoping that all of these different types of Sedum will grow over the rocks and crowd into each other like the next picture.
I thought I would try putting all the following pictures together in a mosaic but I am late getting my post ready, again. I have not tried a mosaic yet and I think I will need to have some extra time available to work my way through it.   I want to show you a close up of these plants because they are very interesting to look at and there are so many different types.  I am sure I have not found all the types yet and quite often they do not have a plant tag in them when I buy them so I cannot give you the particular names of each plant.  I apologize for such a long post but since it is mostly pictures I hope you do not mind scrolling to the end.
This last one I just bought and still need to get it in the ground.
I hope I have given you a new interest in Sedum and that you might add some to you plantings if you are a gardener.  I am linking up to Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday so stop over there and check out the rest of the participants posts.  There are always a lot of interesting stories and information to be had by all.

A New Adventure.

My middle daughter makes wonderful bath products and has started selling them.  She displayed her products at a craft fair this past weekend for the first time and I went along to help in what ever way I could.  Here are pictures of the products and of my beautiful daughter.
These signs were my contribution to the sale.
Her company name is Divine Origin and at this time she creates wonderful smelling, skin softening, natural products that include bath bombs and body scrubs.  She mixes the scents herself with essential oils.  My daughter  plans on setting up an Etsy shop soon but right now you can see a sampling of her products at http://www.craftisart.com/Divineoriginbath.  She has been sponsoring a child through World Vision since she was 21 and is giving 10% of any purchase made of her products to World Vision.  I have to admit I am very proud of her!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Alphabe-Thursday

R is for Red
Red has been my favorite color for the last few years.  Here are some of my favorites.
I have started buying a set of this red Fiestaware when it goes on sale.  I have owned the cobalt blue Fiestaware for over 20 years and decided I wanted to add the red to my collection.
My favorite Miche bag cover.
Cannot live without one of these anymore.
I found this red table at a resale shop.  It was already painted with the perfect red paint.
We bought this couch after moving here a couple of years ago.  We needed some furniture because we moved from a very small house to a much larger one and had a lot of empty space.  I was totally surprised when hubs agreed to this color.  I'm a lucky lady.  Linking up with Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday

As always you should check out the other participants post that have linked up because I am sure you will enjoy what they have to share.  Thanks for stopping by!  Blessings!

HBinFive Bread Braid

I am late linking up to the bread braid this time around.  Not only am I late but I did not bake even one of the recipe's that was due this time around.  I did mix up the full Master Recipe though and made the very first recipe listed in the book.
This was the best loaf I have made yet.  Look it actually has some nice holes in it.  Not sure the correct term I should use but so far all the breads I have made have been really dense and heavy.  And I am so glad it turned out so well because I needed bread for dipping in infused oils.  I had a house full of friends and family over this past Saturday for a Wildtree home party.  If you have not heard of this company they sell wonderful Grapeseed Oils and natural herbs and foods.  You can see the products here: www.wildtree.com.
The bread was a hit when we were testing the different oils.  I still have plenty of the dough left and will still make one of the the items on our list sometime over the next couple of days.  But for now stop over at the Big Black Dog site and check out what everyone else has been baking!
