Alphabe-Thursday

D is for Dollhouse
I have to admit I was stumped on what to use for the letter D this week.  I have been cleaning out and organizing drawers  and I was leaning towards that, even took a picture of a whole dresser of empty drawersBoring.  Then I visited Jamye at http://talefromthecoopkeeper.blogspot.com/ and read this post:
http://talefromthecoopkeeper.blogspot.com/2010/02/did-ya-miss-me.html and inspiration hit me.
My dad built dollhouse's for my younger sister and myself for Christmas when we were very young.  They matched except the front doors were on opposite sides.  A few years ago I decided to add some decorative painting on mine and hubs added some shingles.  I also added the little stones that are on the chimney.  So this is what the outside of the house looks like now
.

And this is what the back and the inside look like.

The inside of the house is really rough and needs some fresh paint, wallpaper, rugs and a lot more.  I have been collecting some furnishings but have not started working on the rooms yet, but Jayme, coop-keeper sure has given me some new ideas.  The really fun thing that has recently happened concerning my dollhouse is one of our neighbors gave my husband some dollhouse plans he had received from his dad.  He expected hubs would like to use them to build our grand daughters dollhouses.
Do they look familiar?  I believe they are the very same plans my dad used!  You should take a trip on over to Jenny Matlock's and check out what the other participants posted this week and thanks for stopping by!

I just love that you still have this dollhouse that your dad built for you - how incredibly special! Love the little stones on the fireplace, and all of the flowers you painted. What a neat project! Kathy

Your doll house is pretty cute. I like all the flowers growing along side the steps and along the side walls. You should have lots of fun furnishing and refurbishing the inside. Let those grands help you.
How amazing that your neighbor had the exact plans for this house

What a sweet dollhouse. I used to have one my grandfather made for my mom. Then I had a boy and gave it to someone that had a girl. I so wish now I would have kept it. The thing was it was so big, I really didn't have any place to keep it. I don't even have a picture. It had lighting, wallpaper, little furniture. I could really kick myself for not keeping it. Yours will look beautiful when it's all done.

How lovel your doll house is! How wonderful that you still have your house. I just love how things come back in popularity. I hope that you have a wonderful Valentine's day. I think hubby and I are going to have lunch and then take some photos. We are taking Reuben to the groomer on Saturday and that is an all day affair!

Brenda you did such a lovely job painting your doll house! I am always fascinated by miniatures and I've collected quite a few ever since my daughter had a doll house. I unfortunately had to put the house into storage as my cat insisted on trying to climb into it and play with the miniatures, but I hope and pray I have a grand daughter to pass it on to one day!
