Alphabe-Thursday

O is for Ornament
 An element of decoration.
In this case decoration of gardens and lawn.

I gathered up all the lawn ornaments a couple days ago to start placing them around the gardens.  We have to put them away each winter here in Michigan or they end up looking like this.

And this.

She lost quite a bit of the back side of her head but I still like having her around.  As you can see I tend to lean toward bunnies.

May favorites are made out of cement.

I found this bunny at a road side shop on Tybee Island.  He fell out of the car before I made it home from that trip and got a chunk chipped out of his face.  I think it gave him character now, although at the time it made me sad.

We have a large yard and a lot of gardens so I can sit these around and it never looks like I have too many.  I am always looking for just the right one to add to my collection each year.

And of course chicks, day two.   The little yellow chicks are Buff Orpingtons.  Ha!  I managed to get chick pictures included on an "O" letter week.

What can I say I have little feathered creatures on my mind.  As a matter of fact, I need to go check the thermometer before heading for bed.  Have to keep these little girls at 90 degrees and we had a freeze last night.  I was up at 4 A.M. adjusting the lamp and talking chick talk.
Thanks for stopping by and go on over to Mrs Matlock's and check out what the other Alphabe-Thursday participants have to share this week.

Yes, the cold weather does terrible things to anything left outside here too. My clay pots always crack. I like all your little bunnies!

I didn't know you had to take them inside...but it is really worth it...they really jazz up your yard!

And those chickens! Those will really jazz about your yard, too.

I really like this little stop on my journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "O".

But now I'm going to have to nag my husband again about the possibility of chickens!

A+

What a great mama hen to take such good care of your chicks:) I think your lawn ornaments are so fun! I wish to find a cool one this summer. We have a turtle planter on our steps in front of our house. We planted mint and basil in it and it smells delightful! Great post!

I saw a garden once where the walkway was made entirely of broken outdoor items, crushed and somehow put together to make a sidewalk. TOO COOL. But I am glad most of yours are not broken!

Nice to mark the change of season by decorating the garden - we'll be moving our garden furniture out this weekend - if it doesn't rain too much!

Your yard ornaments are so cute. I really like the angels. I have several in my yard and I have one that is just so adorable. Of course, I have dogs, ducks and cats as well because of my grandkids. They each had to have their favorites.

When I discovered that ornaments would survive an Island winter I was a happy gardener!

I love bunnies too. I bet they look precious hiding and playing in the garden. When I was a girl, we had a squirrel ornament in our yard that I called Miss Suzy. Great O word and the chicks are dear; so glad you slipped them in.

I guess they get wet and freeze and thaw? Is that what cracks them? We don't have that problem here.

The chicks are adorable.
