Book Report

Have you noticed that I have started titling my book challenge posts as Book Report instead of a Book Review.  I decided I am more of a Book Report kind of gal.  Do not think I do so well writing book reviews, I really think there is a difference.  I have read the fifth book out of six for the reading challenge over at Beth Fish Reads.
The book needed to have a "type of house" in the title.  My good friend the Happy Mrs C suggested The Red Tent by Anita Diamant.
I am so glad that she reminded me of this book it is one that I wanted to read previously but had forgotten about. I love historical books and this one includes actual people from the old testament so even better for me.  The story is told by Dinah the only daughter of Jacob, who's mother was Leah. The story starts when Jacob takes the daughters of Laban as his wives.  It continues with their move outside the city of Shechem in Canaan where the king's son takes Dinah and wants to then marry her.  The city agrees to the requests of Jacob and his sons but then the brothers of Dinah kill the men of the city and take Dinah back.  That I believe is where Dinah does not enter into the story any longer in the book of Genesis. This book continues on with Dinah's story told by herself to the end of her life.  A very enjoyable read.

Only one more book for the challenge.  I need to find a book with "something you'd find on a calendar" in the title. Have a wonderful holiday!  Blessings from our home in the woods.

Book report or review, either way, I'm glad you are keeping us posted on your reads. I read every night. Must have books! When I run out of ideas I will come back to your blog and see what sounds good to read. You should list them on your sidebar.

I agree with Cindy. When folks tell me the name of a good book, I can never recall it when I'm at the bookstore or library. It helps me to 'see' the books.
I almost picked up The Red Tent the other day!

For your last book... have you read "Tuesdays With Morrie"

I am so glad that you liked the book! I think it is so much fun to read what friends suggest and my friend Melanie suggested The Red Tent to me and I passed the suggestion on! I am not going to read 50 Shades of Grey, for I think it is too trashy. There are too many good books to read without reading "Mommy Porn". Sorry to get on my soapbox and I hope I did not hurt anyone's feelings. Have a wonderful Thursday!

Brenda, I enjoyed The Red Tent too. It's been so long since I read it, I should put it back on my list. I hoard books, so I'm sure it's still in one of my piles somewhere! I just finished reading Tina Fey's Bossypants. It was a fun, quick, funny summer read. (Beware the language, tho.)Take care!
