HBinFive Braid

It is time for the bread braid over at Big Black Dog with Michelle.  We had two breads that we were suppose to bake this time around but I have only managed to get around to one.  I check the ones that I do off the list and plan on going back to bake the others when I have more time.  This time around we were suppose to bake Carrot Bread.  This whole grain bread has carrots, coconut, dried fruits and walnuts in it.

The first loaf looked really good but it was a little too moist in the middle so I tried again.  The second time I used a bread crock that I have had for years and not used yet.



































This time around I added another 5 minutes to the baking time and it turned out great.  I forgot to take a picture after cutting it but it looked great cut in the round slices.  I took some to a sewing group with some whipped cream cheese and everyone liked it a lot.  I have bought a special thermometer to check the temp from now on so I am hoping to have more good breads than flopped breads.  Linking up with all the other bakers at:

The bread crock is adorable and I love the shape and color!

The HBinFive breads are a bit more difficult to judge when they are finished baking. I finally bought an instant read thermometer and since then have had no problems.

I love the bread that was cooked in your crock! What a fun shape, and no doubt the sewing cirle loved the cream cheese on this bread, wonerful!

The bread looks so good. I love homemade bread. The bread crock is interesting. I haven't seen one of those.

LOVE the bread crock! What a fun thing. And your loaf looks wonderful. I am going to use the thermometer next time around too. Who knew baking bread could be so complicated?? LOL

Your bread looks pretty darn good...too bad I'm GF. If you are up north you could have ravens as well as crows. I wish we had ravens here. They are like 2-3 x the size of a crow.

Spring is in the air. Love the idea of using a bread crock (first time I hear this term). Reminds me that gardening season is here

I've never seen a bread crock like that. I love it! The bread looked scrumptous and I bet the sewing group gobbled it up.

I love your bread crock! Your bread rose much better than mine and mine was also a little under-cooked. Good idea to use a thermometer!

My bread took longer to cook too, about 10 mire minutes. A thermometer is a big help, especially when cooking in a loaf pan. Like your crock.
