WIP Wednesday

I am back to blogging after almost a two week break.  I do not usually take such a long time away from posting but I think I just needed to have some time off and start fresh.  I have a lot to share over the next few days.  Today I am going to share some projects in the process and a finished one.

I cut out two more Great Granny Square quilt blocks.  These will be blocks 3 and 4.  At the rate I am working on this project, there is no telling how long it will take me to put together 54 of these blocks.

I have backed the fall table topper and have the layers safety pin basted together ready to quilt.  Excited to get this project finished this week so I can put it to use.

Do not know if you will remember the train case I showed you a few weeks ago that I have been carrying my hand sewing around in.  I finally got around to tearing the old paper out of it.

I relined the sides and top of the case with some vintage fabric I have had laying around for quite a few years.   I mounted the stitchery that I shared a few weeks ago and put it in the place a mirror use to be, but no longer was when I bought the case.

In case you would like to stitch up this cute little girl you can get the free pattern at Imagine Gnats here.
I could not center the stitchery on the inside of the top because I had already punched holes and ran ribbon through it for a pair of scissors.  Since I did not think ahead I found that I could not get the scissors out if I attached it centered.  Sometimes I forget to do the math.  Here are the four sides of the inside of the case.

I cut a vintage hankie to make a pocket.

The other half of the hankie.

Favorite hoop.
Decided I needed some more pink so I made a pin cushion and attached with Velcro.
I liked the original blue covering on the outside of the case so I used some antique colored furniture wax to shine it up a little and stain the edges where the paper had worn through.  Now I am ready to fill this case with threads and projects.  Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of your week and blessings from our house in the woods!

I love your stitchery case! So cute and the pocket hanky is such a cute idea. Thanks for sharing and glad you're back! Sometimes we need a little break.

Love your quilt pieces! You are such a terrific seamstress. I adore your train case, you have done such a great job repurposing it. YOu will be able to put your sewing in your case and take it with you everywhere. I hope you had a great Halloween, I am looking forward to Thanksgiving, this is my favorite time of year. Have a wonderful weekend.
