A Stroll Through the Woods

Now that the weather has cooled down, The Bug which is short for Ladybug, and I have been going for a walk through the woods when I get home from work.  Usually we take our time and check things out.  Bug does a lot of sniffing along the trail and mostly stays by my side.  But today she caught me off guard and took off after a squirrel.  She has a long line that rolls out of a handle, I am sure most of your know what I am talking about.

I took the camera with me today which I don't always think to do.  Here she is about 15 feet off the path.
The next picture gives you some kind of indication the mess we ended up in.

Took me some time getting my, just groomed this week dog, untangled from all the small trees that were growing around the bottom of the large tree she chased the squirrel up.  But I managed to get her loose and we continued on our way.
The woods our home is surrounded by is pretty dense.  We have a path that runs from our yard back through the woods and comes out to an open area with a pond, that is also where we grow our vegetable garden.

The pond is really low this year because of the drought.  In the background is the hunting shack hubs built when we moved here.  He does not spend a lot of time hunting from it but the grands find it fun to play in.
Cat Tails
I have just a few blooms left.  I cannot remember the exact name but these are a type of perennial sunflower.  They are only about 5 ft tall this year but usually get taller and have a lot more blooms.

So I decided to follow Deborah at Dandelion House's example and put together a fall bouquet before all my blooms are gone.
I have this great piece of pottery I bought at an art fair that makes it almost impossible to put together a bad arraignment.  If I try and make an arrangement like you get at a florist it always looks lopsided.  My best arrangements are with a lot of different flowers just stuffed into something.
The Pot

Now so you do not think The Bug is always causing trouble, which she does plenty of, here is a picture I took the day she was groomed earlier this week.  She usually sits or lays at the end of this bed while I blog or visit all of you, my friends.
Have a great Friday evening and a wonderful weekend!  Check out these great Farm Girl parties!  Blessings from our home in the woods.

You live in a gorgeous area, girl! Love your woods. Do you ever see any bear? My cousin in Greenbush was walking in his woods one day and came face to face with one. Yikes. Love your flower arrangement, that vase is brilliant!
