Some Progress

The past couple of days I have made some progress on a couple of projects.  Last week I had the hexagons basted for a fall table topper.
The magazine pattern instructed me to stitch the hexagons together by machine with a zigzag stitch.  I am just learning how to do English Paper Piecing and decided to hand stitch them together the same as a small flower I did for a wall hanging a few months ago.
Now it is ready for the backing and quilting. My best friend and I bought the backing together and I will have to get my half from her next week.  Which is fine because there is still more than another month of fall and I just really just want to have it finished for Thanksgiving.
So I sat the table topper aside and decided it was time to tackle my first Granny Square Block.  I have had the pieces cut for two blocks and ready to piece for over a month.
I expect the the rest of the blocks will not take me as long as this one did and maybe I will not be as scared to find the center and square it up next time.  I am hoping to get a handful of these done a week because I decided to make a twin size quilt and my cheat sheet says I need 54 total.  Oh my.  I also have 5 aprons cut out and fabric for three more.  And the list goes on.

Blessing from our home in the woods!

Both of your projects are looking great - I've just done my first batch of hexies and they are very addicting but I find I need to go between several projects or I get a little frustrated that I've got SO many more to do - good luck!

Oh my gosh you are doing such a great job with quilting. WOW! I love them. They really look wonderful. Bring them with you to show off at the yarn store when you come to visit me! They will love to see your stitchery.

Cute!!! Did you do the little stitchies on the hex block? or is that on the fabric? Very adorable!
Just pulled my garden ou this week and did my final canning. Have to work all week, but watch out next week!!! Time to play with fabric!

Hi Brenda, I'm Anne from Life on the Funny Farm (http://annesfunnyfarm.blogspot.com) visiting from the Farmgirl Friday blog hop.

This table topper is so beautiful! I keep wanting to do more sewing, but keep letting life get in the way. Sigh. Good for you!

Anyway, it’s nice to "meet" you. I hope you can pop over to my blog and say hi sometime if you get the chance.

That hexagon table topper is just wonderful! Good luck finishing now that you have discovered the temptations of granny squares :-) Those blocks are fun and it's hard to stop!
