Chores or Fun and a Birthday

As I wrote on my post a couple of days ago it is spring break here in our neck of the woods and we have had grands visiting and have visited them at their homes also.  Out of the last seven days we have only had two without a grand keeping us company.  We have a few toys here and play games, the last two days there has been a lot of Sorry and card games played with our oldest grandson.  But when we grow tired of entertaining them we think up some chores to keep them occupied and from getting bored.  The thing is they do not mind most of what we come up with, actually they enjoy doing these little chores to help out.  Last weekend the girls gathered eggs two days for us.  There was one or two cracked but I think I can fix that, the next time I will put a dish towel in the bottom of the basket.
Our oldest grandson spent some of his time helping his grandpa burn some sticks that he had picked up.  Living here in the middle of the woods we always have an abundance of branches and sticks that need to be picked up out of the yard and paths through the woods.
Three of the grands and hubs have birthdays this month.  We celebrated the first one this week.  This is grandson number two, he turned six this week.  He is holding the afghan that I crocheted for him.
Now that the snow has mostly melted away all the little ground critters are coming out of their winter homes.  This is where we can find Ladybug a lot of the day.  She is keeping her eyes on this one little hole where either a chipmunk or a mole will make an appearance at sometime during the morning hours. We have not seen it ourselves yet but we certainly hear the Bug when she does.
That is our week in a nut shell.  I hope yours has been a great one also!  I have not hooked up with a bloggy party in a while so I am going to join Farm Girl Friday over at Deborah Jean's Dandelion House.  If you would like to join in or just check out all the fun farm girl link-ups go here.
Have a great weekend and many blessings to you!

What a wonderful week you have had!! I LOVED visiting my Grandparents when I was young, and I'm sure your grands do too.

Glad you had busy and happy week with grands. Loved seeing the pictures.
Our little 7 yr. old grandson called last night to say he batted in 2 runners in their baseball game. So proud of him and all of them.

Hi Brenda,

Just catching up on some blogs. You sure have had your grandchildren a lot lately. I bet you are loving it. And I bet they are too. The afghan turned out beautiful. I hope he cherishes it forever. So, do you STILL have snow? It got up to 82 here yesterday. Unusually warm. On Saturday morning it was cold out and rainy and then by the afternoon it got up in the high 60's or low 70's and hot and muggy. I bet we don't get much of a spring this year. I'll quit rambling now!

Isn't it nice to have kids around and remind us that fun/chores are simply the attitude we chose while we perform tasks.
