A Finished Project and a Win!
How is everyone enjoying their weekend? I am taking a coffee break from work that needs to be done around here, at our house in the woods, to show you the one project that I completed this weekend. I bought the fabric for this bag about a month ago and cut it out at least two weeks ago, finally I finished it this week.
I find it is hard to pick just the right spot to take pictures of a bag to really show how it turned out. I started down in my work room and decided that there was just too much busyness behind it anywhere I hung it.
This is the pattern I used for the bag.
Was not thinking how the directional fabric would turn out on the pocket. Upside down Scotties. Decided it was not a big enough deal to make another pocket, who sees it besides me and all of you?
I am doing the happy dance today because I won a give-away over at Cozy Little House for some fabric at Fashionable Fabrics. Twenty Five dollars for fabric!!! Cannot wait to shop and thank you so very much Brenda at Cozy Little House. You should all go visit Brenda because she has a wonderful blog with so many beautiful garden pictures, home pictures and her new venture of Cozy Little Shops.
Need to get back to work, there is painting, vacuuming, laundry and other miscellaneous things on my list. Have a great Saturday and I'll see in the morning for Sunday Praise! Blessings!

An Egg Hunt and April Birthdays Three and Four
Happy Monday! How was your Easter Sunday? We had a big celebration here at our house. Our daughters and their families, hubs parents and his sister and her family. We had a total of eight children and we had an egg hunt after dinner.
I ran around like crazy trying to get pictures of each of the children but still ended up missing three of them. It was great fun watching them looking for eggs in our great big back yard. We also celebrated two birthdays. Our oldest grandchild turned ten yesterday. I think it is the first time his birthday has fallen on Easter Sunday. We also celebrated hubs/grandpa's birthday because his is this Thursday because it is a drive for most of our children to come for a visit. Our grandson requested cheese cake and hubs favorite desert is apple pie.
We had a busy afternoon and I was still tired when I got up for work this morning. I should have something finished to share with you later this week. Blessings!

April Birthday Number Two
We celebrate a lot of birthdays in the month of April. Today is our oldest granddaughter's sixth birthday and we went to a farm for the celebration this past weekend. The farm we went to provides birthday parties, weddings and the normal seasonal activities. Part of the party was to include a bonfire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows but the weather did not cooperate for those activities. The children were able to have a pony ride and a train ride that is pulled behind a tractor in between the rain. They could get up close to the farm animals and walk through the barns.
And of coarse the afghan I worked so hard to get finished last week.
The children had such a great time looking at and petting all the farm animals. If the weather was better I think I would have had quite a few more pictures. The animals are all well taken care of and the owners were wonderful people and so sweet to all the children.
On a side note, this is what our weather looked like yesterday morning.
I have a bloggy friend I would like to ask where my Spring is? You know who you are. We ended up with about an inch and it melted off by early afternoon. We also had some snow flurries again this morning but no accumulation today. I am so ready for Spring! Sending out blessings to you all!

Friday Night Sew-in Results
I started out with a lot of energy last night for the Friday Night Sew-In. When I pressed the fabric I was going to use I continued pressing quite a few more pieces so it would be ready for upcoming projects. I just bought a new iron a couple of weeks ago and it made the work of ironing all the fabrics so much easier. I did manage to get gunk on it yesterday from a fabric panel that had some sort of sticky print on the salvage and was really irritated about that. But here is a tip for you. I got up this morning and remembered I bought an off brand of those magic sponges that take marks of the walls ect. So I just wet the end a little bit and rubbed the bottom of my cold iron and wallah, no more gunk and a happy dance.
Back to the Sew-In. I ran out of steam around 10:30 P.M. I managed to get the pieces cut out for the bag and the fusible fleece attached. I also marked the pleats and the darts for the outside and the lining. That is all though because I decided I was too tired to sew and I did not want to make any mistakes which I have the tendency to do when I get tired. Here is where I left off.
We have our granddaughters birthday party this afternoon and I helped to make cupcakes for it this morning so I am not going to have anything more to show you today. I should be able to finish the bag tomorrow afternoon so hopefully I can post the finish tomorrow night or Monday. Enjoy your weekend! Blessings!

Friday Night Sew-In and a Finish to Share
Hi friends! I have not posted all week and I want to share with you why. Our oldest granddaughter turns 6 in a couple of days and the birthday party is tomorrow. I have been crocheting afghans for each of the grandchildren for their birthdays and this one was not quite done. I have worked diligently on it this week to finish it up and there was just not any time to write a post. This is what the afghan looked like on Monday evening:
I was not content with the finished edges so I pulled out this book that I recently purchased and flipped through it.
It is a great book and I would suggest it to anyone that crochets or knits to find the perfect border for your projects. Here is the border I chose.
I wanted something frilly and this is a really pretty ruffle. It is hard to see in the picture, I took quite a few and did not get any better results. Hubs said it looked great and if he has an opinion on something like this you better believe it is the truth. Cannot wait to hand it over to her tomorrow along with a new doll.
It is Friday Night Sew-In over at Handmade by Heidi so I when I got home from work this afternoon I warmed up a bowl of soup and made a pot of coffee for some much needed energy.
Next I started pulling out my options:
This would be the project for tonight. I am making this bag for me....yes I said it is for me. I love this Scottie fabric and I just found the fabric with the help of my BFF for the lining and bow. The polka dots will be the handle. I have the fabric all washed and ironed and the pattern is cut out so I am off to really get started. I will post what I get finished tomorrow before we leave for the birthday party. Have a great night and blessing to you all.

Summer hats for the granddaughters? |
Aprons for Sister in Law and her daughter for this coming Christmas? |
Barbie doll cloths using a vintage pattern, also a gift? |
Pillow top that I just picked up fabric for? No forgot to get the fabric for the center stitching. |

Chores or Fun and a Birthday
As I wrote on my post a couple of days ago it is spring break here in our neck of the woods and we have had grands visiting and have visited them at their homes also. Out of the last seven days we have only had two without a grand keeping us company. We have a few toys here and play games, the last two days there has been a lot of Sorry and card games played with our oldest grandson. But when we grow tired of entertaining them we think up some chores to keep them occupied and from getting bored. The thing is they do not mind most of what we come up with, actually they enjoy doing these little chores to help out. Last weekend the girls gathered eggs two days for us. There was one or two cracked but I think I can fix that, the next time I will put a dish towel in the bottom of the basket.
Our oldest grandson spent some of his time helping his grandpa burn some sticks that he had picked up. Living here in the middle of the woods we always have an abundance of branches and sticks that need to be picked up out of the yard and paths through the woods.
Three of the grands and hubs have birthdays this month. We celebrated the first one this week. This is grandson number two, he turned six this week. He is holding the afghan that I crocheted for him.
Now that the snow has mostly melted away all the little ground critters are coming out of their winter homes. This is where we can find Ladybug a lot of the day. She is keeping her eyes on this one little hole where either a chipmunk or a mole will make an appearance at sometime during the morning hours. We have not seen it ourselves yet but we certainly hear the Bug when she does.
That is our week in a nut shell. I hope yours has been a great one also! I have not hooked up with a bloggy party in a while so I am going to join Farm Girl Friday over at Deborah Jean's Dandelion House. If you would like to join in or just check out all the fun farm girl link-ups go here.
Have a great weekend and many blessings to you!

Little People Week
Hi all! If you came to listen to the Sunday Praise pick this past Sunday, I apologize I did not get one posted. It is Spring Break here in Michigan and we had our granddaughters this past weekend. We had pizza, played cards, read books, visited the chickens (a lot), played with Ladybug, watched movies, played dress up, and went for walks through the woods.
Yes, we still have some snow on the ground, and Sunday we received some more snow. But the sun was out today the snow is melting again and the weather people promise 50 degrees will be coming this week.
Drove the girlies back to the city on Sunday and we met my youngest daughter, their mommy, at the theater to see the movie Tangled. Was a great weekend. Tomorrow we are picking up a couple of the grandsons. Blessings!
