Alphabe-Thursday

W is for Water Lily

I started taking pictures of the Water Lily we have growing in our front pond earlier this spring.  I wanted to be able to show you how it goes from almost nothing to something really beautiful.  And of course the very first picture I took I was thinking W for Alphabe-Thursday.   We have had a lot of storms this past couple of weeks so the newest picture I took today does not have any open flowers, just a couple of blooms.  But I did take pictures a couple of weeks ago with blooms.  The first picture was taken sometime in May and the last two I took this afternoon.

Thanks for coming by for a visit!  You should check out the other participants over at Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday meme.  There is always something new to learn, some great stories and wonderful pictures.

I hope you are all having a great week.  Blessings to you!

  3. Your water lilies does just like ours and grow up and form mountains. I am glad to see ours isn't the only one that does that. I wish they would spread out flatter instead of higher.

  5. Waterlillies are amazing the way they appear as if by magic from the murkey mystery below the surface and spring forth with flowers that look delicate but are quite robust
    Thank you

  11. Water lilies!

    How clever are you?

What a fantastic stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "W".

Your picture are so perfect I could smell that slightly murky scent of the water and the green freshness of those thick, vital leaves.

    Thank you for linking.

  15. Hi Brenda!!
I only have pond weed in my pond and it doesn't have a pretty bloom like yours does!! Hopefully our "special" fish will be eating it away this year!!

Your garden is so pretty...this year and 2008!! Are those all tomatoe plants in that picture??? What all do you grow? How do you stake your beans, cukes, tomatoes, etc.? Any special tricks????
My garden is FINALLY starting to come along. It's just been so cold here. I've had to replant some things and will have to replant some more soon. The strawberries are plentiful and hopefully with the sun these past few days, they will sweeten up!! Raspberries are on too, but just starting!
Thanks for always stopping by my blog!!

  19. The water lily is beautiful. It's so weird that they would grow in water without any dirt, ha. It just amazes me. Great W post.

  20. Oh, my. I keep finding all these bloggers with great photos and I want to paint everyone of them. Your water lilies are beautiful. By the way, you mentioned climbing trees in the apple orchard on my blog....I live on a pecan orchard. Orchards are so wonderous, aren't they?
