The garden is in!

Well most of it is in. We still need to plant a few more seeds. But we have worked the whole weekend on it and have high hopes! We are 2 weeks later than last year getting it planted. If you read any of my earlier posts this spring you know that our water table is up on our property. Our two ponds are overflowing still and our garden has been muck. Every time we thought it might have a chance of drying out we got more rain. So we decided no matter what, we had to plant this weekend. We went out Friday after work and only got one row of hot peppers in before we decided it was just too muddy and the mosquitoes were going to eat us alive. So Saturday we started again. After adding bales of peat and raking and tilling, we were finally ready to plant. Still somewhat wet but we are going to hope for the best. I've posted pictures of last years garden below. I don't know if we will ever again have a garden that beautiful. I'll post pictures through the summer for anyone that would like to follow our progress.

Sunday Sketch&Stamp Challenge 3

Here is a card for Sunday Sketch & Stamp challenge #3. I made it specifically for a cousin's birthday. I have not seen her for many years because she lives on the other side of the country but she turns 40 this year and I thought I would try something new. I used Stampin Up! Big Blooms stamp set and Sparkle N Sprinkle in Peacock color. Everything else is out of my stash. Need to get it in the mail first thing in the morning though because her birthday is in 2 days!

Sunday Sketch and Stamp Challenge #3

Hard to believe May is almost over!

Here are some pretty pictures of some trees in bloom on our property. I cannot help but take pictures, because where I lived for almost 30 years we only had really large old Oak trees. Our home is now surrounded by woods but the previous owners planted fruit and other flowering trees.

Signs of Spring.

The Cherry trees are blooming, and oh so pretty. Last year we picked a lot of cherries to find out they were not any good. This year Jeff has read up on fruit trees and has bought and used the necessary products to bring about a lot of good cherries. We are having a small cold front. It's suppose to get into the 30's one more night so I am still not going to put anything new into the ground. Boy it is hard not to but it is much harder to go around and cover everything up every night and uncover it all the next morning. So I wait. We do have peas growing though and Jeff planted another row yesterday against another fence. Our ponds are also overflowing the banks and I had plans to plans to plant some new plantings around the front pond this year too. Everything seems to be at a standstill. I'll have to work inside for another week. Here are the pictures Jeff and I took this past week.

I have been trying to add a little note and pictures when each of my grand kids has a birthday. I missed putting a note in about Zaiden's birthday. He turned 4 earlier in April. As you can see he is quite a smiley boy. He got boy toys and plays with them in boy ways. I was going to enter another blog challenge this week but the deadline is tomorrow. I don't think I am going to get anything done. Came home tired today from work, and just wanted to sit and read and snooze. I did run Ladybug up to the vet to get her stitches out and took her for a walk, but that might possibly be all I do this evening since it is already 7:00 p.m.. My incoming at work is so deep that the in basket is sagging. I work for a real estate appraisal firm and everyone that can is re-financing at this time. Busy, busy, busy...Hopefully I'll get creative in the next couple of days and have something new to post.

One card two challenges. I am entering this card in the Scent My Cards cherry inspired challenge and also at Sunday Sketch and Stamp for their first sketch challenge. The red and brown cardstock is core'dinations and the stamps are Stampin'Up. I also used a combination of a white embossing powder and red fun flock for the cherries, and Flower Soft Nut Brown for the stems. The other items I just pulled out from here and there. I mainly work on scrapbook layouts and have not put together a card in a while. Not sure it will stand out next to all the other pretty cards I have been seeing. Need to update my stamps and get some copic markers. But here is my entry!
